Life at the Parsonage

We had known for quite a while that the washer and dryer at the house were on their way out but they were still working. But when the trustees at church did the annual house inspection last year they decided that for 2008 they wanted to invest in a new washer and dryer before the others bit the dust. There was some talk of just purchasing them and having them delivered to the house while Mommy was still on maternity leave, but then they decided to let Mommy pick them out herself. Armed with a budget, we went on a mission. Cousin Clark and Grandma happened to be here that weekend and got to join in the shopping. The extra spin cycle on our washer gets our clothes so dry that it doesn't take long to dry them and we finally have a dryer buzzer we can hear from the garage in the house; we can't count the number of times we started the laundry only to be sidetracked and realize hours later we hadn't finished!

But of course Murphy's law seemed to apply. Five days after getting the washer and dryer delivered the heating elements in the oven died while Mommy was re-heating a casserole and trying to make some brownies. Since the range was the last original appliance left in the house (the dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator have all been replaced in the last five years), the trustees decided it was time for an upgrade and that Mommy could have a new ceramic top stove. So it was back out for more shopping. The new range arrived on last Friday. So what were the first things Mommy made? Brownies in the oven and Spiderman mac & cheese with hotdogs for Parker!

It's amazing how a few new appliances can make your life so much easier!
