So yes we're back to having sleep problems, only Wesley isn't the one causing them. Parker keeps waking up in the night and crawling down his bunkbed ladder to come into Mommy and Daddy's room. Only problem is that it wakes up Wesley, who starts crying hysterically and can't seem to get back to sleep. This has been happening about every other night for the last week and mostly around 6:30am which means we're all waking up about an hour too early in the morning.
Last night was by far the worst. Parker woke up around 2am and came in our room and we could hear Wesley screaming from their room. This time though Parker didn't get to stay in our room; we made him get back in his bed. He didn't appreciate this at all because Wesley was by this point screeching at the top of his lungs. We went back to our room and after 20 minutes or so it seemed that Wesley was going back to sleep. That is until we heard the huge THUD!!!! Terrified that one or both of the boys had fallen out of their beds, we ran into their room to find that one of the cats had knocked down the stand on their dresser which holds the radio/cd player, Lightning Mcqueen nightlight, wipes container as well as the baby monitor base. The boys were understandably freaked out. Needless to say that by the time we got everyone calmed down and both boys asleep that is was after 3:30am.
When we ask him why he gets out of bed, Parker says he has bad dreams about people breaking into our house. Thanks so much Brinks Security for those nifty commercials you've been airing lately about people's homes getting broken into while they are there. Grrrr! Parker knows we put our alarm on at night and lately he has been asking us to put it on as soon as we come home from school.
So tonight as part of bedtime Parker's going to help us set the alarm and we'll leave on the hallway light as a bigger nightlight. Hopefully that will help him be able to stay in his bed and not wake his brother up because we're kind of running out of ideas and we really need them to share a room and both sleep through the night.
