Happy New Year...Again!

It's Chinese New Year Time.
Everything in China is shut down for the celebration this week.
It seems like a combination of our Christmas, Easter and Fourth of July all rolled into one...
everyone goes home to visit family, gets new clothes and gifts, there is tons of food
and lots of decorations and fireworks.

While we had to miss the Gainesville FCC group (Families with Children from China)
New Year's Celebration this year, we've picked up a few things to help us learn
and celebrate here at home.

While we were in EPCOT at Disney over Christmas break we found these two books about
Chinese Festivals and Children's Stories. They were rather expensive there; gotta love technology
though because we looked them up and realized we could get them much cheaper through Amazon.
Since their arrival, the boys have had a lot of fun reading up on the different festivals
and stories at bedtime.

Recently thanks to another adoptive mom,
I found these plates and chopsticks on final closeout online with Pottery Barn Kids.
The little girl and boy figures atop the chopsticks are more than cute decorations....
they are a hinge  - it's like training wheels for chopsticks!

The plates are cute because they have pictures of all the animals in the 12 year cycle of New Year - Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Boar.
Our son Davis was born in the year of the Tiger (2010) and
this year that we bring him home in the year of the Snake (2013).

Praying for some good adoption news to come out of China after this New Year Celebration is over!
