This year our Annual Conference held its inaugural 5K on the shores of Lake Hollingsworth (starting and ending at Florida Southern College). The monies raised from registrations benefited the Imagine No Malaria campaign and the 200 participants raised approximately $5,000!
Daryl and I ran with the big boys and our friend James. Daryl finished first at 34 minutes, then Parker, followed by me at 43 minutes and then James and finally Wesley. It was a beautiful morning on Thursday for the run and we all had a great time.
This year the Annual Conference was unable to offer childcare. So we brought our own babysitter with us. Carolyn is a college student and a member of BUMC. She was great at keeping the boys entertained at our hotel and even when we were all out for meals. Davis was her shadow and now calls her "my Carolyn."
Friday for lunch we tried the Mongolian Grill in town. It was great and reminded us of the old Stone Turtle restaurant we used to have in Tampa - you pick out all fresh raw ingredients (pasta, meat, vegetables, sauce and spices) and then watch them cook it. Parker enjoyed his immensely and Davis ate two big cups of seafood chowder off the soup and salad bar.
