We knew better than to try and be inside a theme park on New Year's Eve - both Magic Kingdom and Epcot were full by 9:30am that day and there was a massive backup on property from all the cars being turned away. So our plan for the day was Disney putt-putt - at the Winterland/Summerland course. There were maybe fifteen families there! We played the Winterland course first and then headed over to do Summerland. Davis really enjoyed putt-putt much more this time than when we went last spring break; although we still didn't keep score for him. His style of putting involves using the golf club, throwing the ball at the hole and sometimes kicking it with his feet like a soccer ball!
We all got at least one hole in one on the course and this was Davis' turn. He did it with NO assistance.
Next we headed over to Downtown Disney; in the process of being expanded and rebranded into Disney Springs. We did a little shopping before our early dinner reservation. Wesley learned how to tell time recently so one of our purchases was a Lego watch for him.
Dinner was really, really good at Fulton's Crab House. The restaurant is housed in the old Empress Lily paddleboat. The Empress Lily was the first site at Walt Disney World to have character breakfasts and we went at least once every year when I was a kid. It looks totally different now, but it was still cool to be in the same space. Our adventurous eater Parker ordered Alaskan Snow Crab off the kids menu. He was a bit confused when they brought him the tool to break open the legs, but he quickly caught on and really loved his dinner.
We finished up our night back at the hotel, at the kids party around the pool and gave the boys some time at the slides. We didn't stay up for the ball drop though. The New Year dawned while we were getting some much needed rest.
