This past Sunday after the last worship service of the day, the church hosted a Welcome Barbecue for us in the Family Life Center. As our Lay Leader said when he introduced us: "We know this is your third week already, but it never seems official until we eat together." If there was any doubt before, we most certainly feel loved, welcomed and official now. They managed to squeeze almost 500 people in there for lunch!
Our traditional music director was in charge of the kitchen and the food was wonderful - barbecue chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, drinks and desserts! They set up six serving lines in the center and it worked very well.
We were so glad that Daniel and his family were able to join us in worship that day and to be there also for the lunch.
We visited with as many folks as we could after we ate. And then as the crowd was dwindling out, the boys got a very special treat. Our lay leader, who also plays the drums for the contemporary service, let the boys sit at the drums for a few minutes. This is Wesley's dream in particular - he is so fascinated by the drummers in the bands at camp and at the church!
