We've spent three nights in the last two weeks at Carver Middle School with stuff for Parker.
Two night were for band related stuff. Everyone in beginning band had instrument testing night. Parker tried out on trumpet, alto saxophone and flute.
His best score came on alto sax. That's the instrument he was interested in the most and the one we already had at home; it used to belong to Daryl. So now he's an alto sax player in the Red Raiders beginning band. We had to go back another night for the band parent meeting and to purchase his books as well as his polo shirt. Then he spent last Saturday morning at a music workshop learning the basics of his instrument.
Then this past week we went to Carver for Expo Night (open house). We had free Chik-fil-a in the cafeteria for dinner and then went around to all of Parker's different classrooms to meet his teachers and to find out about their expectations for the year. The most fun was the time we got to spent in the Robotics lab (he has robotics in third period). Parker showed us the robot that his team is working on for this VEX challenge course - their first competition is in November.
