Daryl and I drove down to Fort Myers late on Wednesday night and spent Thursday and Friday at the Missio Ecclesia leadership conference at Grace Church in Cape Coral. We were there because of our responsibilities as leaders with the Residents in Ministry program. We enjoyed great worship and the chance to fellowship with many of our colleagues as we listened and learned.
It was also really nice to be back in our old stomping grounds of Fort Myers/Cape Coral. We spent three great years here from 2001-2004 when I was the pastor at Tice UMC in east Fort Myers. It was so nice to be back near the water! We drove around some to check out the growth in the area and we also had the opportunity to spend some time reconnecting with one of our favorite people, our former worship leader Ernest Browning.
