I got to travel this week to St. Louis for the first time, heading to a conference called Large Church Initiative in Illinois. I had a little bit of time before the conference started on Monday, so I drove into downtown St. Louis and spent some time exploring. What a great city!

The Courthouse is part of the same National Park as the Arch - it's where the famous Dred Scott case was heard - and it's a museum now.

The view of the Arch from the Courthouse steps.

The Arch is impressive - 630 feet tall and wide.

The Mississippi River is flooded over its banks and taken over part of the Riverfront.

I rode one of the tiny trams to the top! They seat 5 but it's a tight fit!!!

Views from the top!

Right next to the park is the Basilica of St Louis - the first Catholic church west of the Mississippi. I spent some quiet time in here praying.

The leadership conference itself was wonderful! Hosted at Christ Church (UMC) in Fairview Heights in Illinois.

Plus I got to hang out with one of my pastor friends and mentors - the Rev. Debbie McLeod. She's the first woman minister I ever met as a child.

Bonus - on the way home I flew through Detroit. I love their airport. Nothing like live piano music in the food court while eating dinner! This guy was really good.
