School was out here on Wednesday the 24th and on Friday the 26th we took off with the boys for vacation to start the summer. We headed once again to Sapphire Valley Resort in North Carolina where we spent time last June. We were in a different part of the resort this year called Fairway Forest, with a two-story, two bedroom, two bath condo.
Upstairs was the boys room and bathroom and living space.
The boys loved this feature map in the living room that showed the heights of all the mountains.
The view from the upper balcony!
Downstairs was the laundry space, as well as the master suite.
The view from the lower balcony! We slept with the sliding glass door open each night
to listen to the brook!
We got there in time on Friday evening to unload, unpack and do some grocery shopping before crashing out for the night. We were awakened by a commotion outside the next morning - visited by a too-friendly raccoon in search of food. Public safety came and trapped it and took it away.
Once we were able to leave the condo, we headed to play footgolf - this sport is SO much fun and the setting is so picturesque!
Then we stopped by the activity fields and playground for some down time.
To finish out the day we started our quest for locating waterfalls and saw the first FOUR waterfalls of our trip....
Waterfall #1 - Bridal Veil Falls - I remember my parents driving behind this one when I was a kid.
Waterfall 2 - Lower Callasaja Falls
Waterfall #3 - Upper Callasaja Falls
Waterfall #4 - Dry Falls - definitely NOT dry! - this one had a great path and observation deck that you could walk behind the water.
