We started off Thanksgiving break on Tuesday afternoon at Disney by visiting Typhoon Lagoon! This waterpark opened in 1989 and I went the first summer it was open and loved it. It's been several years since we've taken the boys to any kind of water park (Aquatica or Legoland). It was neat to revisit this cool water park and see Daryl and the boys enjoy themselves so much. Davis rode all the rides except for the two biggest slides. Here's just a few pictures from the front of the park before we locked our stuff up in the locker.
After a few hours of the water park, we checked in at our hotel, changed clothes and went over to Disney Springs. It was way more packed than the water park - both parking garages were full and they had opened the overflow parking across the street. We headed over to our favorite burger place - D-Luxe Burger.
Mom's plain patty topped with grilled onions and bacon! Delicious! |
This is one of the only places at Disney I can eat fries! Yum! |
Daryl's delicious and spicy El Diablo Burger. |
We did some window shopping and walking around for a while. Love all the pretty Christmas decorations. Davis spent his money from his first quarter grades on a tiny stuffed animal!
Then the boys got dessert at Ghiradelli's and I got an awesome mocha cupcake at Erin McKenna's.
On Wednesday morning we headed off to Animal Kingdom for the first part of the day. Since we were there to celebrate Daryl and Wesley's birthdays, Wesley picked Animal Kingdom because it has his all time favorite show now - Festival of the Lion King. We got some great pics at the Christmas tree at the park entrance, before going over to start on the Primeval Whirl roller coaster.
The light was horrible for a picture but we found De-Vine right away! |
Then we visited a brand new bird show with some of the characters from the movie UP! The boys all loved this and the cool birds.
This parrot talked and also sang - Old Mcdonald had a farm!
This bird flew through the audience as the folks on the ends of the rows made a tunnel for him - including Parker.
Finally it was time for the Festival of the Lion King!
We ate lunch afterwards at Flame Tree Barbecue. I got yummy ribs and chicken plain and some allergy cookies for dessert. Wesley got baked mac and cheese topped with pulled pork, coleslaw and onion rings!!!! The scenery outside was very peaceful and relaxing.
We finished up with one last attraction here - It's Tough To Be A Bug, inside the bottom of the Tree of Life.
Then we went over to Epcot. There are new free passholder magnets for the Christmas season featuring Goofy, so we picked ours up. We managed to sneak in a couple of rides while we were here too - Figment and Living with the Land - and see some of the Christmas decorations up front. It was beautiful!! We headed off about 5:30pm to Seffner to have dinner with Grandmommy.
