On Wednesday I got my first glimpse of Fort Myers Beach in person and the damage to the local United Methodist Church there. Whatever you've seen in pictures or on TV, I guarantee its worse in person. Just devastating.

The park behind the church is a now a dump site for debris.
None of the businesses in the strip mall to the east of the church survived.
Parsonage
Many of the pastor's personal possessions are stacked up by the road in the debris.
Just hearbreaking. It will be years before this island comes back.
