Last Sunday I spent the morning preaching at Gulf Cove UMC in Port Charlotte, where our good friend Mike Weaver is the pastor. We've known Mike since he and Daryl went through candidacy together in the old Fort Myers district. That church sustained massive damage in last year's hurricane and is still working through recovery. But the people have such a joyous and mission minded outward focus. It was a delight to be with them.
I had another meeting later in Cape Coral and swung pastor Hope Hospice to walk their labyrinth.
Later on in the week I had a visit at Trinity UMC in Bradenton, pastored by Robert Bledsoe. Robert interned for Daryl and I while he was in college at Florida Southern, back when we were serving Druid Hills and Belleview. They've just invested a lot of money in redoing their facilities and I got a tour.
Meanwhile at Grace Venice with Daryl, last week was a big celebration for Back to School in worship and then the very first day of class for the Grace Preschool. All wonderful celebrations!!!
