Sunday and Monday (days six and seven) were spent on the island of Maui. It was beautiful as we pulled in to dock first thing on Monday morning.
As we disembarked the ship for our beach day trip, there was the cool map of Maui on the wall.
Our beach day excursion took us to Wailea Beach on the other side of the island from where we had docked. There are no private beaches in Hawaii, meaning that resorts cannot restrict beach access for people, only their amenities on their property like pools. We went to a beautiful beach that was in front of the Four Seasons and the Waldof-Astoria. They had beach chairs and an giant umbrella for us and we just sat and soaked it all in. We also went for a short stroll and a dip in the water to cool off. The waves are pretty powerful.
For dinner that night we had made a reservation for Cagney's Steakhouse, one of the specialty restaurants on board, to celebrate officially our 25th Anniversary. And so we got super dressed up to eat steak and lobster (which was amazing) and made sure to get a bunch of pictures of us all decked out.
For our second day in Maui, we were supposed to go on a snorkeling trip. But both of us were struggling with sinus issues and were pretty tired so we decided to chill out on our balcony and rest. At one point I walked in to town to get a little medicine. Out on the dock was more temp housing for the town of Lahaina, that burned up in the big fire last August. Also there were chickens everywhere - which is a theme all over the islands. They roam free everywhere.
Sunset as we sailed out of Maui on Tuesday night.
