Wesley Pilgrimage - Part Seven

We had a free day in London. I hung out with Shannon and Holly from the conference office. We started off shopping at Harrod's. So much fun!

Then we went to Buckingham Palace for a tour of the state rooms. We weren't allowed to take pictures but it was amazing. We took pictures outside out back afterwards, of the green lawn where they host the summer garden parties. I got a little souvenir in the gift shop.

The we visited Borough Market - lots of great stalls with wonderful food. Shannon and Holly had strawberries with chocolate and I got an allergy friendly cupcake.

Then we went to one of the oldest and famous pubs in London for lunch.

We walked from there across the London Bridge, from which we could see the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

We walked past the monument to the great London fire.

Then we went to a different market Seven Dials, this time to a cheese restaurant called Pick and Cheese. It was so cool because the plates of cheese went by on a conveyor belt and you picked off what you wanted to eat. And they had some vegan cheeses too.

Then I split off from the others and did some touring solo. First up for me was visiting in Chinatown.

Next I took an Uber to Kensington Gardens, so I could see the Princess Diana Fountain and the Peter Pan statue.

As I went to exit the garden, I stumbled upon something called the Italian Gardens. The big statue here is of Edward Jenner who invented the smallpox vaccine.

I finished out the evening by going to a musical at the London Palladium. I got to see Imelda Staunton headlining "Hello Dolly!" I'd never seen the musical before, but it was great and she was spectacular. Imelda Staunton is famous from Harry Potter and also Downton Abbey and so many other things.

I took the tube back to the hotel. I walked a total of 8 miles during the day. So much good stuff!
